Be it ICF or LHB nothing can't ever escape the laws of nature, that we refer to as physics.Basically it is not the speed that kills, it is the acceleration or the rate of change of speed that kills. There is a formula that we all studied in our elementary classes that goes as 'p = kmv' where 'p' is the linear momentum, 'm' is the mass and 'v' is the velocity of the travelling object and 'k' is the balancing constant.
Now differentiating with respect to time you get the rate of change of momentum which is directly proportional to the product of mass and acceleration.

other words, the heavier the object and the faster it moves more the momentum it has. The train entered in the loop line at mps, derailed and hammered into a fully loaded static freight with the locomotive of the ill-fated train ploughing through the guard carboose and hoisting itself up on two loaded wagons. The coaches following the locomotives derailed, capsized and merged into each other.
Had there been no collision, the coupling and anti telescopic suspension on the LHB coaches would have prevented such a mishap.
Can you even begin to imagine what the death toll would have been if there was an ICF train, with screw coupling, involved in the unfortunate mishap ?
The death toll would have been easily north of 600-700, the coaches wouldn't even be identifiable and reduced to a crumble.

So yeah, LHB does save life, this was an unfortunate incident where people were fated to die be it ICF rakes or be it LHB rakes !
