If Kolkata is to be developed like London(as earlier desired by Bengal CM), it has to be through efforts of CM/State Govt and not by RM from Bengal sanctioning projects of about 50,000 Crore Rs to be funded from the kitty of IR, for the Kolkata Metro & other related Expansion Projects. Disinterest or non-participation of state govt is the main reason for not so satisfactory state of affairs of Kolkata Metro.
Kolkata, which historically had been the No.1 city of India from point of view of importance, business, education, financial might etc. is slipping fast with Delhi & Mumbai distinctly overtaking it and much less populous cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad are being considered almost at par with Kolkata in many matters of importance. Poor state governance is the most important reason for this continuous downfall.
