BCT-ADI-AII-JP-DLI is not able to realise its full potential because of
(1) ADI-DLI was earlier MG route and considered and truly considered as a no match to BCT-RTM route. Old mindset does not permit us to think otherwise.
(2) Today BCT-ADI-DLI is an alternative partly single non electrified route which still is just 110kmph.
(3) But what cannot be forgot is the fact...
more... that ADI-DLI is under brisk doubling & electrification as well. Soon trn operation on both routes shall be equally comfortable.
(4) Now if ADI-DLI track is upgraded to 130kmph, both the routes shall be at par. Distance shall be at par i.e. 1425km (via JP) 1360km (via RGS) against 1385kms (via RTM). BCT-ADI-DLI route has advantage of much higher traffic potential due to location of mega cities ADI & JP on the route.
(5) finally viaADI route is futuristic high speed 160/200 kmph SHS Dedicated Passenger Corridor of IR, as Mumbai-Delhi DFC runs parallel to it. No freight train is expected to run on via ADI route where as via RTM route shall continue to run some slow moving freight trains. More over terrain of this route is flatter than BRC-RTM section, higher avg speed is expected.
(6) IR has poor track record in matter of formulating successful marketing strategies. Corporate management would have grabbed the opportunity to develop the guage converted route into top route of IR and reap benefits.
(7) The 1425 km route dotted with big cities, industrial/ commercial centers, State capitals, Rly HQs/Jns looks impressive
