I think instead of Ahmedabad-Mumbai Indian government should have constructed High speed railway infrastructure between Patna-Delhi via MGS-CNB...The Max speed should not be more than 250 KMPH to cut costs and it should retain 200 KMPH average speed...the normal fare between Patna and Delhi should not be more than 3000 k with not more 25% of the seats up for dynamic pricing..
The Cost per km of high speed rail (HSR) with speeds upto 350 KMPH costs 17-21 million usd / km in China so building 250 kmph HSR will be cheaper and even if 350 kmph fit HSR is constructed the total construction cost between Patna and Delhi will cost something around 20 billion USD or around rupees1.40 lakh crores..BTW...
more... Mumbai-ahmedabad bullet train project is worth Rs 1.08 crores.
So if bullet trains with 350 kmph speed runs between Patna and Delhi it willnt take more than 3 hours and 20 minutes
And then feeder lines (semi high speed 130-160 kmph) should be constructed to connect stations on the HSR with other cities..like MFP,Gaya, bhagalpur etc should be connected to Patna in such a way that trains don't take more than a hour from Patna and gaya and more than 3 hours from bhagalpur..
So passengers from MFP or gaya can reach Delhi in 4 hours 30 minutes
Feeder lines can be constructed to connect LKO to cnb or Chapra to Banaras..
It will surely be a hit...
