Farakka Barrage has a fair number of trains but it isn't that saturated to warrant a new billion rupees project. Even if a new project has to be initiated crossing the Ganges it would never be from Lalgola as there is not much advantage to IR since they have already invested on Murshidabad-Azimganj project. If tracks have to be absolutely increased then they can always build a new bridge adjacent to the Barrage as that would be advantageous for trains from all the sections.
