The demand for a railway line connecting these two locations has been ongoing for over 25 years, with a movement dedicated to this cause initiated two years ago. The Ministry of Railways has confirmed in an RTI response that the survey work is underway. The absence of direct rail connectivity has been a significant factor in the backwardness of Bahraich. The survey is being conducted by Sky Lark Designers & Engineers Private Limited, Patna. The Ministry of Railways has allocated 162.5 lakhs rupees for the survey, which began on February 28th. The survey is being conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Engineer of the North Eastern Railway. The project is expected to bring significant benefits to the residents of the region, particularly in terms of affordable rail travel.
