Various development projects are underway to enhance basic facilities at Gorakhpur and nearby stations in the NER, including the construction of a third line from Domingarh to Kusumhi, a second line between Cantt and Kaptanganj, and the installation of an automatic block signaling system on the Chhapra-Lucknow route. Several other projects, including a survey for the third line between Chhapra and Barabanki, construction of a second entry gate at Cantt station, and other projects, are currently on hold. These projects will be expedited after the Model Code of Conduct is lifted following the completion of the seventh phase of voting.
