The investigation into the Kanchenjunga train accident near Rangapani station in Katihar Railway Division, led by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Janak Kumar Garg, has been completed in New Jalpaiguri. The investigation will now proceed in Lucknow. According to railway sources, a special investigation team will question senior and junior...

railway officials and employees found guilty during the investigation in Lucknow. The investigation is not yet fully concluded. The CRS has questioned over 100 railway employees. The investigation covered senior officials of the Northeast Frontier Railway to gatemen of the Katihar Railway Division, encompassing various departments such as Operations, Safety, Engineering, Electrical, Signal and Telecom. The investigation suggests that senior officers and lower-level officials could face disciplinary and legal actions. The Ministry of Railways and the Railway Board may take major action based on the investigation report. There is speculation about transfers and suspensions of railway officers in the Katihar Railway Division. The investigation has revealed errors by both railway employees and officers. However, definitive action can only be taken after the Railway Board issues a letter based on the investigation report. The investigation focused on the cause of the collision between the Kanchenjunga Express and a goods train, including the provision of walkie-talkies to guards and drivers in the Katihar Railway Division, the use of walkie-talkies by the guards and drivers of the goods train involved in the accident, the training provided to railway personnel involved in train operations after the implementation of the automatic signal system, communication between the driver and assistant driver of the goods train regarding the red signal, and permission granted by the station master to the goods train to pass the red signal. The investigation also aimed to understand why the guard and driver of the Kanchenjunga Express stopped the train after passing Rangapani station. The investigation indicates that both technical and human errors contributed to the accident, potentially resulting in disciplinary action against several railway officers and employees. The statement of Monu Kumar, the assistant driver of the goods train who was injured in the accident, is considered crucial. He is currently being treated at a private hospital after being referred from a government hospital in North Bengal. While he has not spoken yet, railway officials and security teams from the railway and civil sectors are monitoring him. The CRS and the investigation team may question Monu Kumar in Lucknow. The accident occurred on June 17th when a goods train collided with the stationary Kanchenjunga Express near Rangapani station in the Katihar Railway Division. The collision damaged four coaches of the Kanchenjunga Express and five coaches of the goods train, resulting in the deaths of 10 passengers, including the driver of the goods train and the guard of the Kanchenjunga Express. 43 passengers were injured, 10 severely and 33 with minor injuries. The senior DCM of Katihar, Dheeraj Chandra Kalita, confirmed that the investigation in New Jalpaiguri is complete but other investigations are ongoing. He stated that further action will be taken based on the investigation report and orders from the Railway Board.

Katihar Railway Division ke Rangapani station ke paas Kanchenjunga train accident ki jaanch, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Janak Kumar Garg dwara, New Jalpaiguri mein pura ho gayi hai. Lucknow mein ek special investigation team puchhtaach karegi. Jaanch abhi pura nahin hua hai. CRS ne 100 se zyada railway employees se puchhtaach ki hai. Jaanch mein Northeast Frontier Railway ke senior officials se lekar Katihar Railway Division ke gatemen tak, alag-alag department jaise Operations, Safety, Engineering, Electrical, Signal aur Telecom ko cover kiya gaya hai. Jaanch se pata chal raha hai ki senior officers aur lower-level officials par disciplinary aur legal action ho sakta hai. Railway Ministry aur Railway Board jaanch report ke aadhar par bada action le sakta hai. Katihar Railway Division mein railway officers ke transfer aur suspension ki charcha ho rahi hai. Jaanch mein railway employees aur officers dono ke mistakes samne aaye hain. Lekin, definitive action tabhi liya ja sakta hai jab Railway Board jaanch report ke aadhar par ek letter issue kare. Jaanch mein Kanchenjunga Express aur goods train ke collision ke cause par focus kiya gaya hai, jisme Katihar Railway Division mein guards aur drivers ko walkie-talkies dene ki provision, accident mein involved goods train ke guards aur drivers dwara walkie-talkies ka use, automatic signal system implement hone ke baad train operations mein involved railway personnel ko training dene ke baare mein, goods train ke driver aur assistant driver ke beech red signal regarding communication, aur station master dwara goods train ko red signal pass karne ki permission dene ke baare mein puchhtaach ki gayi. Jaanch mein yeh bhi pata lagaane ki koshish ki gayi hai ki Rangapani station ko pass karne ke baad aise kya circumstances bane ki Kanchenjunga Express ke guard aur driver ne train ko rok diya. Jaanch se pata chal raha hai ki accident mein technical aur human error dono ka role hai, jisse kai railway officers aur employees par disciplinary action ho sakta hai. Accident mein injured goods train ke assistant driver Monu Kumar ka statement bahut important mana ja raha hai. Uska ilaaj abhi North Bengal ke ek private hospital mein chal raha hai. Usne abhi tak kuchh nahin bola hai, lekin railway officials aur railway aur civil sectors ki security teams uski nigaah rakh rahi hai. CRS aur investigation team Monu Kumar se Lucknow mein puchhtaach kar sakte hain. Accident 17 June ko hua tha jab Katihar Railway Division ke Rangapani station ke paas ek goods train ne stationary Kanchenjunga Express se takkar maari thi. Collision se Kanchenjunga Express ke char aur goods train ke paanch bogi kharab ho gaye the. Is accident mein goods train ke driver aur Kanchenjunga Express ke guard sammilit 10 passengers ki death ho gayi thi aur 43 passengers injured hue the, jisme se 10 ghanir aur 33 normal the. Katihar ke senior DCM Dheeraj Chandra Kalita ne confirm kiya hai ki New Jalpaiguri mein jaanch pura ho gayi hai lekin other investigations chal rahi hain. Unhone kaha ki further action jaanch report aur Railway Board ke orders ke aadhar par liya jayega.
