MP seeks Minister’s intervention for launch of more train services in Malabar

MP M.K. Raghavan met with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Railway Board Chairperson Jaya Varma Sinha on June 27, 2024, to advocate for increased train services in the Malabar region of Kerala. He highlighted the need for more Vande Metro and MEMU services, particularly in the Palakkad Division, as the...

current single MEMU service is insufficient to meet passenger demand during peak hours. Raghavan also voiced concern over the lack of unreserved coaches, cancellation of passenger trains, and the delay in extending the Bengaluru-Kannur Express to Kozhikode despite an official government order. He further requested the extension of the Vande Bharat Express between Goa and Mangaluru to Kozhikode and the introduction of additional train services between Kozhikode and Bengaluru to address the travel needs of passengers in the Malabar region.

MP M.K. Raghavan ne 27 June, 2024 ko Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw aur Railway Board Chairperson Jaya Varma Sinha se mulaqat ki, aur Malabar region mein zyada train services start karne ki maang ki. Unhone Palakkad Division mein zyada Vande Metro aur MEMU services ki zarurat par zor diya, kyuki...

abhi ek hi MEMU service hai aur woh peak hours mein passengers ki demand ko pura nahin kar pa rahi hai. Raghavan ne unreserved coaches ki kami, passenger trains cancel hone aur Bengaluru-Kannur Express ko Kozhikode tak extend karne mein der hone ki bhi shikayat ki, jaise ki government order aane ke baad bhi. Unhone Goa aur Mangaluru ke beech chalne wali Vande Bharat Express ko Kozhikode tak extend karne ki bhi maang ki, aur Kozhikode aur Bengaluru ke beech aur train services shuru karne ki bhi maang ki, taaki Malabar region ke passengers ki travel needs ko pura kiya ja sake.

Absolutely rubbish.CAN SBC extn to CLT is absolute waste as the train majorly caters to the Mangaluru Bengaluru crowd(most end to end) with 1 or 2 bookings from Kannur.
Vande Bharat extension too is just a buffoonery. How will it be a benefit? Also CLT doesn't have PM facilities for a regular train let alone Vande Bharat.
If he had a bit of an idea abt rly,He shud have tried for pm facilities at Westhill.

Let MP ask SR PGT to run a train from CLT to SBC instead of spoiling the already spoiled SBC CAN Via MAQ.
How long SR PGT avoid owning Malabar area as their own? How long Mangalore would be paying the price for neglect of Malabar area?

Some of the things that I came to know recently from a senior rail ZRUCC member. Trying to mention it briefly. The Malabar region always had a great preference for road travel ( own transport, pvt and govt buses and so on ) Rail travel was less. Now with work happening in NHAI, there has suddenly been a huge surge in passengers trying to opt for rail since travelling by road has become a big burden. This has increased manifold especially post covid. Existing rail is unable to meet this sudden surge in demand. Extn of SBC train is not going to happen. Even people of CLT wont prefer. VB extension is also not going to happen.
As an immediate step they

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
