Training, though offered, is disparate and not standardized for each team member. The automated block signal system, fully computerized, operates with an advanced starter signal 1.5 kilometers from the station yard, alerting the station master upon a train's entry. This system also provides information about technical issues to trains following behind. The system is deployed on the South Eastern Railway zone between Howrah and Kharagpur (114 kilometers) and Chandil and Kandra-Sini (61 kilometers). While loco pilots have received training, consistent training is required for better understanding and safe operation.
