While the project was initially proposed in 2017-18 with an estimated cost of ₹2.8 billion, it was neglected by the previous government. The current government, with the support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has revived the project, which is now a priority for the Railways. The Railway Department is not considering any new alignment proposals and will proceed with the original plan, which does not include a railway station near the Krishna Canal junction. This decision has been met with some opposition, as there is already available land near the junction, which could reduce land acquisition costs by 30%.

Abki sarkar, NDA ke support ke saath, yeh project phir se start kar rahi hai aur yeh Railways ke priority projects mein se ek hai.
