par saste hone ke wajah se they make it possible in main cities for people to travel cheaply even from quite a distance.
Mumbai mai, for instance, many people travel from beyond Kalyan and Borivli every day towards South Bombay/Parel's business district for job, and many of them pay tax.
this wouldn't have happened if transport was very expensive.
one of the biggest advantage...
more... that india today offers in global market is availablity of cheap labour. if traveling was expensive that labour wouldn't stay cheap
its a very stupid way to approach the problem by just looking at loss per passenger; pretty sure when direct and indirect taxes paid by the person is accounted for those cheap, loss making pass trains and locals would probably one of our country's greatest assets.
