The accident occurred near Satellite Junction, where the trial train was running for the first time on a new track. Two students, Radhika and Sadhana, were returning home from their coaching classes and were crossing the track when the trial train approached. Both were killed instantly on impact with the engine. Cabinet Minister Tulsi Silawat met with the families, offering condolences and financial assistance of one lakh rupees each.
