On July 24, 2024, Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw responded to a written question from TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee about accidents in 2023 across various zones of Indian Railways. The minister's response revealed that there were 48 accidents across all zones in 2022-23, resulting in 8 deaths and 81 injuries. ...

The Central Railway zone recorded the highest number of accidents with 8 incidents. The North Western Railway zone had the highest number of injuries (70) due to 2 accidents, but no fatalities. The East Coast Railway zone witnessed 5 accidents with 3 deaths and 4 injuries. The Eastern Railway zone had 2 accidents, but no casualties. Importantly, there were no accidents reported in the Kolkata Metro during this period.

accidents hue, jisme 8 logon ki jaan gayi aur 81 log zakhmi hue. Central Railway zone mein sabse zyada 8 accidents hue. North Western Railway zone mein 2 accidents hue jisme 70 log zakhmi hue, par koi bhi maut nahi hui. East Coast Railway zone mein 5 accidents hue jisme 3 logon ki jaan gayi aur 4 log zakhmi hue. Eastern Railway zone mein 2 accidents hue, par koi bhi casualty nahi hui. Sabse important baat yeh hai ki is period mein Kolkata Metro mein koi bhi accident nahi hua.
