Efforts are underway to double the track. Currently, there are no direct trains from Jabalpur to Raipur, and the Amarakantek Express, which travels through Jabalpur to Raipur, is often fully booked, with waiting lists even for tickets reserved four months in advance. The senior divisional commercial manager (DCM) of the Jabalpur railway division clarified that the proposal to introduce a Vande Bharat train on the Jabalpur-Raipur route has been forwarded to the railway board for consideration, and a decision will be taken after analyzing all aspects. The chief public relations officer (CPRO) of the West Central Railway, stated that the decision to introduce a Vande Bharat train is taken by the railway board and the Prime Minister's Office. The first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will operate between Patna and Delhi, covering the distance at a speed of approximately 160 km per hour. It will consist of 16 coaches and will take 8 hours to reach Delhi from Patna. The train will have a total of 823 berths, significantly more than the 530 seats on the existing Vande Bharat Chair car trains, which have 8 coaches. The Railway Minister stated that the train is designed for middle-class passengers and the fare is expected to be comparable to Rajdhani Express fares. The initial plan is to operate the train for distances ranging from 800 to 1200 km, aiming to make it the preferred choice for overnight journeys. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is expected to commence operations by December. The coaches are ready, and the train will undergo trials for the next 2 months before being made available for passengers.
