RAC passenger also seek consumer courts .Nowadays RAC never confirmed. Most of the side berths are shared with 2 Sleeper class ticket holders throughout the journey.
even i am thinking now that I should have gone to consumer court when I was traveling from Delhi to Kanpur and I had RAC ticket. I was bit relaxed that at-least I got half berth but it turned to nightmare when another passenger came claiming his seat full. I argued him its RAC and some how I managed to sit. When the train was moving slowly, TTE came and checked the ticket and went away, I thought it is now ok and after some time he jsut pushed me side and went to sleep, I was like WTF. I tried my best to get my share of seat but he was strong enough to move. I repeatedly request him give me space but he was pretending to sleep and ignored my request every time. Even I was very tired and I also want to sleep then I was forced to... more...
sleep on the floor in the aisle and it was my one of the worst journey i had.
The problem has now become more severe after the number of RAC berths in SL coaches have increased. The chances of confirmation are remote these days . In few trains I have seen that excepting for berths number 7-8 & 71-72, in many trains the rest of the seats are earmarked as RAC
