The automatic signaling system enables the safe movement of multiple trains on a single line, and it also allows trains to travel at higher speeds. Currently, an absolute single system is operational between Kharagpur and Tata, monitored by RRI, and an automatic system between Tatanagar and Rajkharsawan (42 km). A similar system is also operational between Cini and Chandil (29 km) for passenger and freight trains. Work is also underway for implementing an automatic signaling system towards Rourkela.
