the Chief Officer Superintendent (Chief OS) of the Northeast Railway's Accounts Department, was caught taking a bribe of ₹22,000. The intermediary in this case, Jitendra, was also arrested. The CBI raided both railway employees' residences. In the first case, the contractor, Harsh Saraswat, had applied to get his firm, Messers Harsh Saraswat, listed with the CPWD in Lucknow in August 2023, but his application was rejected. He re-applied in November 2023, but Babbu Singh Yadav demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 to approve the application. In the second case, Abhinav Choubey filed a complaint against Ashok Chaudhary for demanding ₹32,000 in bribes for the payment of pending bills for his firm, Messers Nirmal Enterprises Varanasi, which had received a transformer supply tender in April 2023. Chaudhary demanded the bribe through WhatsApp calls on December 5th and 7th, directing the money be sent to Jitendra's Google Pay account. Jitendra also repeatedly called and demanded the bribe on behalf of Chaudhary. Notably, just three months ago, the CBI arrested K.C. Joshi, the Chief Material Manager of the Northeast Railway, for accepting a bribe.
