The route of the Deoghar-Dibrugarh train has been changed this month, with the train now running via Mohanpur, Hansdiha, Bhagalpur, Munger, and Katihar instead of the previous route through Dumka, Pakur, and Malda. Dumka, and Godda districts. The new route is considered less congested and avoids the need for engine reversal at Rampurhat, which was a major operational bottleneck. The new route will also connect cities like Deoghar, Bhagalpur, Munger, Khagaria, and Katihar, and benefit pilgrims travelling from Deoghar to Sultan Ganj. The train will run twice a week and the journey from Deoghar to Dibrugarh will take approximately 22 hours.
