To facilitate passenger travel, special trains are being operated between Chennai-Kanyakumari and Chennai-Coimbatore. A special train (06042) will depart from Chennai Egmore at 1 PM on January 29th and reach Kanyakumari at 2:45 AM the next day. and arrive at Chennai Egmore at 10 AM the following day. This train will stop at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Trichy, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli, Valliyur, and Nagercoil. A special train (06044) will depart from Chennai Central at 1:45 PM on January 29th and reach Coimbatore at 11:05 PM the same day. A special train (06043) will depart from Coimbatore at 11:30 PM on January 28th and arrive at Chennai Central at 8:30 AM the next day. This train will stop at Perambur, Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, and Tirupur. Advance booking for these trains has begun. This information is from a Southern Railway press release.
