Previously, the cleaning contract for four years cost over 11 crores. The cleaning work has been carried out on quotation since March 2023, as the previous tender expired. This significant reduction in tender amount raises concerns about cleanliness, especially as wages and other expenses have increased due to inflation over the past five years. Currently, 18 machines, including high-pressure cleaners, scrubbers, vacuums, and manual clippers, are used for 24-hour cleaning at Tatanagar station. A team of 105 outsourced staff works in three shifts. Since the last cleaning tender, the number of trains and passengers at Tatanagar station has almost doubled, leading to increased garbage. The reduction in cleaning budget could negatively impact passenger experience.
