Indian Railways has re-designated passenger trains as express specials, effectively ending the era of passenger trains. This means passengers are now charged express fares, almost double the previous rates. While some trains in Chennai have been replaced with MEMUs, other divisions still use DEMUs. This change has angered passengers, especially those who rely on passenger trains due to their affordability. However, the Southern Railway still displays outdated fare charts, leading to confusion and complaints. The South Western Railway has reversed this decision in its zone, restoring the pre-COVID fare structure. Isse passengers, khaas karke woh log jinko passenger trains ki sastaai se fayda hota tha, bahut pareshan hain. Lekin Southern Railway abhi bhi purane fare charts display kar rahi hai, jisse confusion aur complaints aa rahi hain. South Western Railway ne apne zone mein yeh decision badal diya hai, aur pre-COVID fare structure restore kar diya hai. Passenger trains ko khatam karne aur fare badhane ke decision se railways ki earnings par kaafi asar pada hai.
