Maidan-Esplanade section is part of the East-West Metro corridor and connects Howrah Maidan to the Salt Lake Sector V IT hub. The remaining stretch to be completed on the East-West alignment is the Esplanade-Sealdah segment, which is expected to be operational by June-July 2024. The project faced delays due to a burst aquifer in 2019, causing ground subsidence and building collapses. The Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah stretch of the East-West Metro corridor and the 6.5 km Joka to Taratala segment of the Joka-Esplanade project are already operational. The Kavi Subhash-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay section, covering 5.4 km of the Kavi Subhash-Airport metro line, will also commence commercial operations soon.

East-West alignment mein, abhi sirf Esplanade-Sealdah segment complete hona baaki hai, aur ye June-July 2024 tak operational hone ki umeed hai. Project mein 2019 mein ek burst aquifer ki wajah se delays aaye, jiske karan ground subsidence aur building collapse hue. East-West Metro corridor ka Salt Lake Sector V se Sealdah stretch aur Joka-Esplanade project ka 6.5 km Joka se Taratala segment already operational hai. Kavi Subhash-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay section, Kavi Subhash-Airport metro line ka 5.4 km cover karta hai, ye bhi jaldi hi commercial operations shuru karega.
