This marks the second instance of a tunnel being laid under a river in Chennai, following the Cooum River in Phase I. The Adyar Junction Metro station is under construction and expected to be completed within the next two years, integrating seamlessly with the metro network. The overall Phase II project encompasses 116 km and more than 100 stations, with the 20 km stretch from Nehru Nagar to SIPCOT expected to be operational by 2027.
