Railway doubling project lags, only 25% completed

The Yeshwanthpur-Channasandra track doubling project, covering 48 km, is only 25% complete, while the Baiyappanahalli-Channasandra project, spanning 21.70 km, has achieved 55% completion. Hebbal-Baiyappanahalli stretch (11.6 km) is also targeted for completion by December 2024. In the Baiyappanahalli-Hosur doubling works (48 km), the Carmelaram-Heelalige section (10.5 km) began in February. The Bellandur-Carmelaram (3.5 km) and Bellandur road and Huskur new yard and Maranayakanahalli-Anekal road (6.9 km) are expected to be completed within the fiscal year 2023-24. The civil works for Corridor-2, spanning Chikkabanavara-Yeshwanthpur-Baiyappanahalli (25 km), commenced on August 26, 2022, and for Corridor-4 covering Rajanakunte-Yelahanka-Baiyappanahalli-Heelalige (46.24 km), on December 30, 2023. Tenders have been issued for the procurement of Rolling Stock (Coaches) under a Public-Private Partnership, with three qualifying organizations. The project is scheduled for completion by December 2027.
