The Purple Line will have 45 stations and is expected to be operational between 2025 and 2028. A challenging aspect of this project is constructing a tunnel under the Adyar River between the Greenways Road Metro and Adyar Junction stations. The tunnel is being built using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and is currently 200 meters away from completion. The tunnel will be 7 meters below the river's surface and is expected to be finished within the next 20 days.
