more... the surge in passenger demand during the summer season, the board has instructed all zonal railways, including the Northeast Railway, to utilize these idle rakes as special trains on busy routes. The Northeast Railway has identified approximately 15 rakes that remain idle for 48 hours or more. These rakes will now be deployed on heavily trafficked routes. This year, the number of special trains operated in April has increased 12-fold compared to last year. In April 2023, only 100 special train trips were run, while this year, over 1200 trips have already taken place. For the summer season, the Railways will be operating a record 9111 special train trips, significantly higher than the 6369 trips run last year. The increase of 2742 trips is intended to meet the increased passenger demand. The Northeast Railway is operating 92 summer special trains in 1200 trips from various stations, along with 67 special trains in 472 trips across different stations.
