Insurance isme bhi cover karta hai ki agar train diverted ho jati hai, alternative train book karna padta hai, ya passengers ko unavoidable circumstances ki wajah se road se travel karna padta hai. 2018-19 me 34.40 crore passengers ne insurance liya aur isse ₹8.53 crore premium aaya. 2019-20 me 27.30 crore passengers ne insurance liya aur ₹13.38 crore premium diya, jabki insurance companies ne claims ke liye ₹3.73 crore diya. Ye insurance scheme September 2016 me start hua tha, jab premium 0.92 paise per passenger tha, aur government isko pay karti thi. August 2018 me premium kam karke 0.42 paise per passenger kar diya gaya, aur iska burden passengers pe dal diya gaya. Baad me isko aur bhi kam kar diya gaya.
