Badarpur (172 km) is also progressing well, with 85% of the work done. Overall, 65% of NFR tracks have been electrified, boosting the railway network in the Northeast. Once the electrification is complete, premier trains like Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat could operate up to Agartala. NFR plans to phase out diesel-run trains, which will reduce diesel costs and carbon emissions. The Centre has allocated Rs 260 crore for upgrading Agartala station and Rs 93 crore to convert Dharmanagar, Udaipur, and Kumarghat stations to Amrit Bharat stations.

Jab yeh electrification complete ho jaayega, tab Agartala tak Vande Bharat aur Amrit Bharat jaise premier trains operate kar sakte hain. NFR ka plan hai ki diesel-run trains ko gradually phase out kiya jaaye, jisse diesel ka cost aur carbon emission kam hoga. Centre ne Agartala station ko world-class banane ke liye Rs 260 crore allocate kiye hain, aur Dharmanagar, Udaipur, aur Kumarghat stations ko Amrit Bharat stations mein convert karne ke liye Rs 93 crore diye hain.
