Metro Line 3, a 23.5-kilometer line with 23 stations, is being constructed under a public-private partnership model by Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, a joint venture of the Tata Group and Siemens. The line will connect key locations like Hinjewadi, Wipro Chowk, Shivaji Chowk, Wakad Flyover, and Shivajinagar Court, offering seamless connectivity and reducing travel times. The project also includes a dedicated 55-acre depot in Hinjewadi for maintenance and operations. Construction of a 1.6-kilometer double-decker viaduct along Ganesh Khind Road toward Pune University is also underway. Traffic route changes have been implemented since May 4 to facilitate the rapid installation of girders and construction of pillars. The project has made significant progress in the past two years, with pillar erection complete and testing phases nearing completion. The arrival of the coaches signifies a major milestone toward the launch of Metro Line 3, which will enhance Pune's public transportation system.
