In 2023, Central Railway (CR) reported 1,650 deaths, with 782 while crossing tracks, 431 falling from coaches, and 1 death from hitting a railway pole. Western Railway (WR) reported 940 deaths in 2023, with 495 crossing tracks, 159 falling from trains, 3 hitting railway poles, and 3 falling between platforms and trains. 5 died from electric shocks, 39 committed suicide, 219 from natural causes, and 15 from other reasons. 9 deaths were unknown, and 283 bodies were unclaimed. From January to April 2023, WR saw 304 deaths, with 162 crossing tracks, 65 falling from trains, 1 from electric shock, 10 suicides, 59 natural deaths, and 7 from other reasons. 97 bodies remained unclaimed. Railway police keep bodies for 14 days in government hospitals for relatives to claim. If no one comes forward, police perform the last rites based on any identifying marks or ornaments.

January se April 2023 tak, WR pe 304 deaths hue, 162 track cross karte hue, 65 train se girne se, 1 electric shock se, 10 suicide se, 59 natural deaths se, aur 7 other reasons se. 97 bodies unclaimed hain. Railway police bodies ko government hospital mein 14 dinon ke liye rakhte hain relatives ke claim karne ke liye. Agar koi nahi aata, to police aakhri rites perform karte hain, deceased ke identify marks or ornaments ke basis pe.
