Nippon Steel's Vice Chairman, Takahiro Mori, will return to the United States this week for further negotiations regarding the $14.9 billion acquisition of U.S. Steel. This follows his previous visit from May 20-26, highlighting the company's urgency to finalize the deal amidst regulatory and political challenges. Mori's agenda includes meetings in Washington D.C. and discussions with business and political leaders, underscoring the Japanese steelmaker's commitment to the merger. Adani Group recorded a remarkable 45% increase in pre-tax profit (EBITDA) in FY23-24, reaching Rs 829.17 billion. This growth was driven by strategic measures like debt containment, founder share pledge reduction, and core competency consolidation. Over the past five years, the group has achieved a 54% CAGR for profit growth. A significant portion of the EBITDA (84%) stemmed from 'core infrastructure' businesses. Adani International Ports secured a 30-year concession to operate Container Terminal 2 (CT2) at Dar-es-Salaam Port in Tanzania, marking their entry into the country's port sector. This strategic move reflects APSEZ's commitment to global expansion and leadership in the port and logistics industry. CT2, with an annual cargo handling capacity of 1 million TEUs, is a crucial gateway with extensive road and rail networks. It handled 0.82 million TEUs in 2023, accounting for 83% of Tanzania's total container volumes.
