A freight train collision occurred near Madhopur Chowki, close to the Sirhind railway station in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, at 3:16 AM on Sunday. were no casualties. However, both pilots of the freight trains were injured and were taken to the Fatehgarh government hospital, then transferred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. This incident echoed the recent Odisha train disaster, which resulted in over 290 fatalities. The collision happened near the New Sirhind station on the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) track, where two coal-laden freight trains were stationary. The engine of one train detached and collided with the other, before overturning and becoming embedded in the Sammer Special passenger train traveling from Ambala to Jammu Tawi. The freight train carriages also piled on top of each other.

Khushi ki baat hai ki isme koi bhi jaan nahin gayi. Lekin dono freight trains ke pilots zakhmi ho gaye aur unhe Fatehgarh ke government hospital mein le jaaya gaya, jahan se unhe Patiala ke Rajindra Hospital mein transfer kiya gaya. Yeh accident kuchh dino pehle Odisha mein huye train accident ki yaad dilaata hai, jisme 290 se zyada logon ki jaan gayi thi. Is accident mein koi jaan nahin gayi, jo khushi ki baat hai. Yeh accident New Sirhind station ke paas, Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) track pe hua, jahan do coal-laden freight trains khadi thi. Ek train ka engine khulke doosri se takra gaya, aur fir engine palat ke Ambala se Jammu Tawi ki taraf ja rahi Sammer Special passenger train mein phans gaya. Accident mein freight train ki bogiyan bhi ek doosre pe chadh gayi.
