However, due to the initiative of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), the zone's Railway General Manager has ordered a fresh medical examination of all employees involved in LASIK surgery and to change their grades and retain them in service. Earlier, 11 dismissed loco pilots from the Chakradharpur Division were made clerks or office superintendents. 72 employees are currently working at new positions, but the Chakradharpur Division Men's Congress's Shashi Ranjan has demanded that old running and operational employees should be paid old pay scales despite the change in grade due to LASIK surgery. Currently, medical examinations of railway employees involved in LASIK surgery are being conducted again as per the railway zone's order. According to information, four loco pilots are still dismissed from the Chakradharpur Division, while action is pending against more than 145 employees. The railway has issued notices to dozens seeking explanations. A station master resigned during the investigation. It is noteworthy that in April 2023, a departmental medical examination by the railway revealed that station masters, guards, loco pilots, technicians, and other category employees had undergone eye surgery without informing the railway. This led the Chakradharpur Division Men's Congress to demand the employees be adjusted in other departments instead of being dismissed, as they posed no risk to safety or operations.
