With waiting lists not moving, passengers are opting for cancellations. The Prayagraj Junction sees an average of over 60,000 passengers daily, and 11,911 tickets were cancelled in a week from there. Stations like Naini, Chhivki, Rambag, and Subedarganj experience about 300 cancellations per day. The number of cancellations this year is significantly higher compared to last year, indicating a surge in travel demand. Railway officials attribute the situation to the usual summer rush and the operation of summer special trains. Despite these efforts, some routes are experiencing overcrowding, leading to higher cancellation rates due to the unavailability of confirmed tickets.
