In particular, the Sonehat, Baikunthpur, and Patna blocks are facing regular power outages, causing inconvenience to farmers preparing for the Kharif season and residents dealing with the summer heat. The electricity department blames staff shortages for the ongoing problems, but residents question the effectiveness of recent maintenance projects given the persistent power outages. The new Burdar sub-station, located 10km from Baikunthpur, is expected to ease the burden on the existing sub-station and improve power supply in the area. A new sub-station is also under construction in Bahrasi, Bharatpur block of MCB district, aiming to provide consistent electricity to the region.
