Despite only 200 crores allocated in the 2024 budget, the target is to finish the Airport to Barasat section by early 2027. To ensure safety, especially near the airport, the construction within the airport boundary will be done using reinforced cement concrete, and a box-pushing method will be employed instead of tunnel boring machines. Once completed, this line will significantly improve connectivity and reduce overcrowding on local trains, particularly during peak hours. The four stations on this segment are ready for passenger transportation, with trial runs already underway. Commercial operation is expected to begin within a few months, subject to approval from the Commissioner of Railway Safety.
