The route was closed for several years due to gauge conversion and electrification, leading to limited connectivity. The Indian Railways has sent a proposal to operate regular trains on the Pilibhit-Mailani section. However, there is no current proposal for trains running from Bareilly to Pilibhit and Mailani. Senior DCM, Izatnagar, Sanjeev Sharma, confirmed that only one train is operating on the Izatnagar-Pilibhit-Mailani route and that a proposal for regular trains is awaiting approval.
