During this time, several trains including North East Express, Sarnath Express, and Howrah-Jodhpur Express were stranded en route. Passengers on these trains faced difficulties due to lack of water and ventilation. The goods train departed from platform number eight at Prayagraj Junction and derailed at the 17th, 18th, and 19th wagons near the point. The incident was reported to the control room immediately. Officials arrived at the scene along with the ART from Prayagraj Junction. The derailment halted train movement on both the up and down lines. After two and a quarter hours, the three wagons were put back on track, clearing the route. The first train towards Howrah on the down line was Jodhpur-Howrah, while the first train towards Prayagraj Junction on the up line was the Sarnath Express. During the disruption, trains like Netaji Express and North East Express faced delays of two to two and a half hours.

Malgadi Prayagraj Junction ke platform number aath se Naini ja rahi thi. Dopahar 3:07 pe, jab train point ke paas pahunchi, uske 17th, 18th, aur 19th wagon patri se utar gaye. Control room ko turant iski jankari di gayi. ART Prayagraj Junction se waha pahunchi. Station ke paas ka case hone ke karan, officers bhi waha pahunch gaye. Teen wagons utarne se, up aur down line pe trains ko rok diya gaya. Lagbhag sawa do ghante ki mehnat ke baad, teenon wagons ko track pe chadhaya ja saka. Iske baad route clear hua. Down line pe Howrah ki taraf pahli train Jodhpur-Howrah chalti hai. Jabki upline pe Prayagraj Junction ki taraf pahli train Sarnath Express chalti hai.
