The news of stones being placed on the joint point at the outdoor of Sonuwa station caused a stir in the Chakradharpur railway division. An RPF team reached the spot from the divisional headquarters at night and investigated the rail track. Meanwhile, train operations on the third line, as well as the up and down main lines, remained suspended from 9:45 pm to 10:05 pm on Saturday. Upon receiving the news of the incident, railway officials reached the spot and removed the stones placed on the joint point. Train operations were then resumed. The RPF is investigating the entire matter. After two such incidents within a week, a special team will now monitor the track and the joint points. It is noteworthy that stones were also placed on the down main line and the third line joint points number 102A and 103 near the outdoor of Sonuwa station on Tuesday night. This is the second such incident within a week. The railway police have not been able to identify those who placed the stones. Since the incident took place near the Sonuwa-Kuirida road, the possibility of the incident being carried out by Naxalites cannot be ruled out. However, the railway police are attributing the incident to mischief-mongers. The intention of the mischief-mongers was to derail trains.
