in 2023, allocating Rs 5.9 crores for it. The proposed 190-kilometer line will pass through Meppadi, Sulthan Bathery, Chiackabergy, and end at Nanjangud. The exact route will be finalized after submitting the location sketch. The project is expected to reduce travel time between Kochi and Bengaluru to 7 hours, Wayanad and Bengaluru to 2.5 hours, and Mysore to 1 hour. The state government is now willing to support the project as the previously favored Thalassery-Mysore rail link failed to materialize. In 2013, the UDF government appointed E Sreedharan to conduct the final survey, but the project stalled due to the lack of funds from the state government.

Railway ne 2023 mein project ko apne hath mein le liya aur Rs 5.9 crore allocate kiye. Proposed 190-kilometer line Meppadi, Sulthan Bathery, Chiackabergy se hoti hui Nanjangud pe end hogi. Final location sketch submit hone ke baad hi exact route pata chalega. Project se Kochi aur Bengaluru ke beech travel time 7 hours, Wayanad aur Bengaluru ke beech 2.5 hours aur Mysore tak 1 hour mein complete ho jaayega. State government ab project ko support karne ko ready hai, kyunki Thalassery-Mysore rail link, jisko state pehle support kar raha tha, successful nahin ho paya.
