गोरखपुर, 31 अगस्त, 2024: पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे के लखनऊ-पीलीभीत वाया सीतापुर, लखीमपुर खंड के गेज कन्वर्जन के अंतर्गत पीलीभीत-शाहगढ़-मैलानी रेल खण्ड के गेज कन्वर्जन का कार्य पूरा हो चुका है। इसके साथ ही लखनऊ-पीलीभीत वाया सीतापुर-लखीमपुर (262.76 किमी.) रेल खण्ड देश के ब्राॅडगेज नेटवर्क से जुड़ गया। पीलीभीत-शाहगढ़-मैलानी(67.92 किमी) के गेज कन्वर्जन कार्य पर रू. 672 करोड़ की लागत आयी है। गेज कन्वर्जन के साथ ही खंड के विद्युतीकरण का कार्य भी पूर्ण किया गया है। 01 सितम्बर, 2024 को माननीय रेल, सूचना एवं प्रसारण, इलेक्ट्राॅनिक्स एवं सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री, भारत सरकार श्री अश्विनी वैष्णव वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से पीलीभीत-शाहगढ़-मैलानी आमान परिवर्तित रेल खण्ड, राष्ट्र को समर्पित करेंगे तथा इस गेज परिवर्तित रेल खण्ड पर उद्घाटन विशेष ट्रेन को हरी झण्डी दिखाकर रवाना करेंगे।

इस अवसर पर पीलीभीत जं. रेलवे स्टेशन पर आयोजित समारोह में माननीय वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग, इलेक्ट्राॅनिक्स एवं सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी राज्यमंत्री, भारत सरकार श्री जितिन प्रसाद, माननीय गन्ना विकास एवं चीनी मिलें राज्य मंत्री, उत्तर प्रदेष सरकार श्री संजय सिंह गंगवार, माननीय कृषि, कृषि षिक्षा एवं कृषि अनुसंधान राज्य मंत्री, उत्तर प्रदेष सरकार श्री बलदेव सिंह औलख, माननीय विधायक श्री जयद्रथ उर्फ प्रवक्तानन्द, माननीय विधायक श्री बाबूराम, माननीय सदस्य, विधान परिषद डा. सुधीर गुप्ता, महाप्रबन्धक, पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे सुश्री सौम्या माथुर, मंडल रेल प्रबंधक, इज्जतनगर सुश्री रेखा यादव, मुख्यालय एवं मंडल के वरिष्ठ रेल अधिकारी उपस्थित रहेंगे।

इस गेज परिवर्तित रेल खण्ड पर ट्रेन सेवा का शुभारम्भ होने के पश्चात पीलीभीत-मैलानी के मध्य 03 जोड़ी तथा पीलीभीत-लखनऊ के मध्य 01 जोड़ी गाड़ी का नियमित संचलन होगा। पीलीभीत-लखनऊ वाया लखीमपुर, सीतापुर रेल खंड का देष के ब्राॅडगेज नेटवर्क से जुड़ जाने से पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेष एवं लखनऊ से पीलीभीत होकर दिल्ली एवं उत्तर भारत के अन्य नगरों के लिये एक अतिरिक्त मार्ग उपलब्ध हो गया।

this line were halted in June 2018 due to the commencement of broad-gauge work on the Mailani railway line. Residents had been demanding the resumption of services since then. Three passenger trains will operate on this route, along with an extension of a train from Lucknow to Shahgarh and a special train from Howrah to Lalkuan. However, some traders presented a memorandum to General Manager (GM) Swapnil Mathur, expressing concerns about the train timings and requesting adjustments for the convenience of passengers.
