Umesh Nagar in the Khagaria direction, connecting to the Barauni-Katihar rail line. Additionally, a 7 km long bypass line from Ratanpur to Munger will also be doubled. This project is expected to improve train services between Munger and Bhagalpur. The project was approved in the recent budget, and a survey was conducted with ₹50 crore allocated for it. The doubling of the line and the bypass will be completed in stages, with the construction commencing soon.

जमालपुर-खगडिय़ा सिंगल रेल लाइन को डबल करने की तैयारी में रेलवे बोर्ड जुट गया है। रेलवे ने लगभग 14 किमी लंबी रेल लाइन निर्माण के लिए हरी झंडी दे दी है। दोहरीकरण के लिए सर्वे का काम भी जल्द शुरू होगा। जमालपुर-खगडिय़ा रेलखंड के बीच में गंगा नदी पर श्रीकृष्ण सेतु बना हुआ है। सेतु को भी शामिल किया गया है। रेलवे के अनुसार जमालपुर से मुंगेर और खगडिय़ा दिशा से उमेश नगर तक लाइन को डबल किया जाएगा। दोहरीकरण होने के बाद उमेश नगर के पास बरौनी-कटिहार रेल लाइन से सीधा कनेक्ट होगा
