The station is being built on a new track between the existing ओंकारेश्वर Road station and Sanavad, which will feature 12 bridges (10 already completed) and drainage systems. An underpass is also being constructed at Railway Crossing 274 at Mortakka to ease traffic congestion. The construction is expected to be completed by December 2023 and will offer a new transportation option for visitors to the ओंकारेश्वर Jyotirling temple. The existing Mahu-ओंकारेश्वर Road station was closed on February 1, 2023, and the new station is located about 1.3 kilometers from the existing station towards Sanavad. The MEMU train service, currently operational between Sanavad and Khandwa, will be extended to the new station, allowing devotees from Maharashtra to reach the temple by train.

Station ko existing Omkareshwar Road station aur Sanavad ke beech banaye jaa rahe ek new track par banaya jaa raha hai, jisme 12 bridges (10 already complete) aur drainage system ban rahe hain. Mortakka par Railway Crossing 274 par traffic jam ko reduce karne ke liye ek underpass bhi banaya jaa raha hai. December 2023 tak construction complete hone ki ummeed hai aur ye Omkareshwar Jyotirling temple aane waale visitors ke liye ek new transport option hoga. Existing Mahu-Omkareshwar Road station ko 1 February 2023 ko close kar diya gaya tha, aur naya station existing station se Sanavad ki taraf 1.3 kilometers door hai. Sanavad aur Khandwa ke beech chalne wali MEMU train service ko naye station tak extend kiya jaayega, jisse Maharashtra se aane waale devotees train se temple tak pahunch sakenge.
