This decision has significantly impacted passengers planning to travel for Raksha Bandhan, especially those relying on the Vande Bharat Express between Bilaspur and Nagpur. The construction of the 228-kilometer third railway line, part of the Rajnandgaon-Nagpur project, is estimated to cost ₹3540 crore. Notably, train cancellations have been frequent in the South East Central Railway zone for the past three months, affecting services in and around Raipur. The cancellation of 72 trains (416 trips) will inconvenience over five lakh passengers. Passengers are struggling to find alternative travel options and secure confirmed tickets on other trains, resulting in inconvenience and additional expenses. The cancellations and rerouting have led to the refund of approximately 4,32,000 tickets, costing the Railways ₹28.86 crore. The decision has forced millions of passengers to alter their travel plans, including those who had already booked tickets months ago. Additionally, the Night Express and Passenger trains will not operate to Kirandul until August 8th due to heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and the Naxalite's 'Martyrs' Week'.
