Also on Monday, a goods train derailed near Chandil in Saraikela-Kharsawan. The derailment occurred on the Tata-Purulia railway line at KS number 7, causing the engine's wheel to come off the track. This resulted in damage to the railway track and a 3-hour disruption at Tatanagar and other stations. An ART (Accident Relief Train) van was dispatched from Tatanagar and the engine was pulled back onto the track. The Chakradharpur division canceled several trains including the Hatia Express and Barkakana passenger, affecting hundreds of commuters in Kolhan. Traffic in the area was also affected. The goods train was eventually sent to its destination, but track repairs continued until late evening.
