family, who lived in Nehia (Cholapur), were begging for a living and had reached near Puranpur Khanpatti village near the Birapatti railway station when the tragedy struck. The Bagh Express train was diverted from Gorakhpur and was on its way to Kathgodam. The incident caused a delay in the departure of the Marudhar Express (train number 14863) and the Gondia-Barauni Express, which were delayed for 1 hour 50 minutes and 2.30 hours, respectively.

Center mein admit kiya gaya. Nehia (Cholapur) mein rahene wala yeh parivar, apna gujara karne ke liye bhikh maangta tha aur Birapatti railway station se Puranpur Khanpatti village ke paas pahunche the jab yeh durghatna ghati.
