Aage aane waale 7 mahino mein 3300 se zyada fans replace kiye jayenge, jisse saal mein 9 lakh unit energy bachaane ka anuman hai, jisko 1900 ton carbon dioxide emission kam karne ke barabar mana ja raha hai. Maidan-Esplanade section is part of the East-West Metro corridor and connects Howrah Maidan to the Salt Lake Sector V IT hub. The remaining stretch to be completed on the East-West alignment is the Esplanade-Sealdah segment, which is expected to be operational by June-July 2024. The project faced delays due to a burst aquifer in 2019, causing ground subsidence and building collapses. The Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah stretch of the East-West Metro corridor and the 6.5 km Joka to Taratala segment of the Joka-Esplanade project are already operational. The Kavi Subhash-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay section, covering 5.4 km of the Kavi Subhash-Airport metro line, will also commence commercial operations soon.
