Mumbai rail upgrade: WR shifts another rail line to make way for sixth

The Western Railway in Mumbai has shifted the platform for Churchgate-bound slow local trains at Malad station. The work was completed by 10 am on Sunday, with the first train arriving at 10:30 am. The next block for this work is scheduled for September 22nd, after the Ganpati festivities. The 5th and 6th lines are being built to create a separate national corridor for mail/express trains. Work on the 6th line has been completed from Bandra Terminus to Goregaon and now from Goregaon to Kandivli. The 9 km stretch from Bandra Terminus to Goregaon is complete, and the 4.5 km stretch from Goregaon to Kandivli is ready to be connected to the existing network.

Yeh block 6th line ke construction ke liye tha aur yeh 7th September ki raat se 8th September ke subah 10 baje tak chala tha. Isse Up and Down Slow lines aur Down Fast line affected hui.

slow line trains will run on the UP Fast line from Borivali to Goregaon. Down Slow line trains will run on the Down Fast line from Andheri, halting at Platform No. 7 of Goregaon station. Between Goregaon and Borivali, Down Slow line trains will run on the 5th line, not stopping at Ram Mandir, Malad, and Kandivali stations. Some Churchgate-Borivali Slow train services will be short-terminated and reversed from Goregaon. Mail/Express trains will face delays of 10 to 20 minutes. A list of cancelled or short-terminated suburban trains is provided in Annexure I & II. Passengers are advised to check with station masters for detailed information.
