The railway stations of Kochuveli and Nemom have been renamed to Thiruvananthapuram North and Thiruvananthapuram South, respectively. The 18237/18238 Korba-Amritsar Chhattisgarh Express will have a stop at Katol station, and the 11040/11039 Gondia-Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus will have a trial stop at Puntamba station for six months.

992 special trains during the Kumbh Mela, a significant increase from the 572 trains run in 2019. Over 300 special trains will be operational on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. The railways have also designed a one-way pedestrian route from the stations to the mela area to manage the crowds. Six emergency plans are in place, and 90 holding areas have been identified at the stations to manage congestion and ensure the safety of the pilgrims.
